Vintage Thomas Bland California Bowie Knife with Leather Sheath.
An etched blade - well worn reading: 'A CALIFORNIAN ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG'.There is an American Eagle underneath which is etched: 'I CAN DIG GOLD FROM QUARTZ' and below this 'CALIFORNIAN BOWIE KNIFE'.
The ricasso is stamped with an oval hallmark which reads: THOMAS BLAND - GEN. JACOB PAT. and inside the oval - 'VOL KNIFE'
The blade is 18.5cm long and the overall length is 31.5cm with an antler handle. The knife is supplied with a leather sheath in used condition with a belt loop at the top.
This is a pre owned knife. Good overall condition for a knife from this period - the cross guard is a little loose.
