Böker Barlow Prime Tirpitz Damascus

Following the overwhelming interest in the exceptional Böker Tirpitz-Damast, Böker proudly introduced a new, more compact addition to the family: the Böker Barlow Prime Tirpitz Damascus. Crafted from the same historic Damascus steel, this elegant gentleman's knife brings naval history into your pocket.

Smaller and more refined than the original, the Barlow Prime is ideal for everyday carry while still making a striking impression in any collection. The blade, forged from the legendary Tirpitz Damascus steel, features a modern elongated ricasso and classic nail nick opening.

Named after the sister ship of the Bismarck—the largest battleship ever launched by the German Navy—the Tirpitz lives on through this and other extraordinary pieces of craftsmanship.

A Battleship’s Legacy, Reforged

After World War II, a Norwegian salvage company began recovering steel from the wreck of the Tirpitz, the legendary battleship sunk off Norway’s coast. Their goal was to repurpose the high-alloy armour for civilian use. Years later, Norwegian divers recovered select pieces of this historic steel exclusively for Böker.

From these rare materials, our master Damascus smith creates something truly unique. The blade features a striking 200-layer Great Pyramid pattern, forged by hand. The blend of Tirpitz steel with carbon tool steels results in a blade that is as strong as it is storied—achieving a Rockwell hardness of 61–63 HRC for outstanding everyday durability.

Compact and Capable

The Böker Barlow Prime Tirpitz Damascus transforms this legendary material into a refined, pocket-friendly slipjoint knife. Its compact size and traditional nail nick opening make it ideal for everyday carry. For added safety, the mechanism includes a 90-degree half-stop when opening and closing.

One of the Oldest Knife Designs

The Barlow’s teardrop shape is one of the most enduring in pocketknife history. Originating in 17th-century England, the design likely gets its name from a Sheffield knife maker who popularized the style in North America around 1800. Böker adopted the design in the late 19th century, making it a part of our heritage ever since.

Premium Materials and Handmade Craftsmanship

This modern interpretation features a handle milled from solid black micarta, which forms both the body and bolsters. This integral construction eliminates the need for metal liners, keeping the knife lightweight. The handle scales, made from contoured domestic walnut wood, offer excellent ergonomics. Decorative nickel silver rivets and a stainless steel blade axle screw complete the look.

Each knife is handmade in the Böker Knife Manufactory in Solingen and comes with a premium felt case for secure storage.
