Early Emerson History
This 1999 Emerson Commander knife comes from only the second year of Emerson Knives production. Its roots run directly to Ernest Emerson’s military-focused ES1 and SpecWar work. Moreover, the Commander won Best Overall Knife of the Year at the Atlanta Blade Show, giving this early example serious collector appeal.
Purpose-Built Design
Emerson built the Commander around hard use, secure handling and fast deployment. The black part-serrated blade combines a practical cutting edge with aggressive Dragon’s Teeth™ serrations. Meanwhile, textured G10 scales and titanium liners create a tough, confident grip. Most importantly, the famous Wave opening feature first appeared on the Commander, making the Emerson Commander knife an important piece of folding-knife history.
Original Character
This production linerlock remains in good condition. The blade shows a couple of light scuffs. Very light handle marks are also present. Consequently, the honest signs of use suit an early example rather than detract from it. Blade steel is unknown.
