The Cold Steel Drop Forged knife takes a refreshingly direct approach to construction. Cold Steel forges the blade and substantial handle from one piece of 52100 high-carbon steel. As a result, there are no handle scales or conventional fittings to compromise its rugged character. Despite its thickness, the flat-ground blade cuts efficiently and remains surprisingly manageable.
52100 Steel Built for Serious Work
Originally associated with ball bearings, 52100 steel offers excellent hardness, edge potential and durability. Moreover, its high carbon content allows the Drop Forged knife to take an impressively sharp edge. However, 52100 isn't stainless. Therefore, occasional oiling makes good sense and helps protect the steel against corrosion.
