Cold Steel Kukri Machete

There’s no single edged machete that we can think of that can out-chop or out-cut a good Kukri. It’s true that the best Kukris, like the Cold Steel LTC and Gurkha models, can be somewhat expensive. While those “thoroughbreds” perform extraordinarily well for the money that they cost, it sometimes seems that what’s required is a good, inexpensive, “workhorse” model like the Cold Steel Kukri Machete.

The “Magnum” model has a whopping seventeen-inch blade and as such, it is ready to plough through the toughest chores, making short work of those large garden tasks for example, brambles and hard wood scrub. These blades are made out of 1055 Carbon Steel with a tough spring temper and are surfaced with a black, baked-on anti-rust finish therefore adding longevity to this tool.

It features the distinctive weight-forward balance of Cold Steel’s top-of-the-line models, in other words, making the job less tiring as less effort is required to make the cut, and the tool is working for you. Each Cold Steel® machete comes with a good utility edge which, with just a little work, can be made hair shaving sharp, although this can be a disadvantage for cutting through hardwood due to the blade 'jamming' in the wood if its too sharp. There are times when the edge benefits from being sharper, for example cutting through bracken or hide building. Additionally, it comes with a sturdy Cordura sheath giving safe storage for the blade when not in use.

The tough, Polypropylene handles of Cold Steel machetes are designed to provide a comfortable secure grip, and they are rugged enough to resist chipping, cracking or breaking, so they last well. They’re a solid value, ready for long, hard work.
